About Daniel Begay and how we check our facts
Daniel Begay is a tour guide and Navajo cultural specialist based in Monument Valley, on the Navajo Nation east of the Grand Canyon. Since 2022 he has guided international visitors through the Navajo lands of the Colorado Plateau, and by his own count he has served more than 1,000 travellers.
His home ground is Monument Valley and the surrounding Navajo Nation, the red-rock country that sits a couple of hours east of the canyon. Years of putting visitors in front of big Southwest landscapes taught him what actually decides whether a tour day goes well: honest pickup times, realistic drive hours, knowing exactly which viewpoint you are being taken to, and a guide who tells you the hard parts up front.
That is the lens he brings to this site. Daniel does not lead any of the tours sold here, and we say that plainly. The bookable departures belong to the real operators who run them. His job is the checking: for every package on these pages he researches the operator's official GetYourGuide, Viator or TourRadar listing and verifies the inclusions, the duration, which rim the trip actually visits, the pickup arrangements and the cancellation terms. Where a park or venue fact matters, he goes to the primary source: nps.gov/grca for the national park, grandcanyonwest.com for the Hualapai-run West Rim and Skywalk, thetrain.com for the railway.
Two more things stated straight, because the rims get conflated everywhere else. Daniel is Navajo, not Hualapai; Grand Canyon West sits on Hualapai Tribal land, a different nation with its own rules, and he claims no inside line there. And he is not a National Park Service ranger. This site is an independent guide, not the park service and not a tour operator.

Park facts like entrance fees, the 2026 non-US-resident surcharge and the North Rim closure are checked against nps.gov and the official Grand Canyon West and railway sites. Every page states which rim its tours visit, because the South Rim and the West Rim are different places about 200 road miles apart. We keep the verification dates on file behind the scenes and refresh figures as listings change.
